WeRide to Launch Next-Generation Robotaxi Globally on October 15th
WeRide, a leader in autonomous driving technology, announced the global launch of its new generation of Robotaxi on October 15th. Promising a fully automatic experience adaptable to all scenarios, the company has yet to reveal specific details about the new vehicle.
WeRide is distinguished by its global reach, holding autonomous driving licenses in China, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and Singapore. The company has been actively engaged in autonomous driving research, testing, and operations across 30 cities in these countries.
With a strong safety record, WeRide has achieved significant milestones since launching China’s first L4 autonomous taxi in 2018, in partnership with Guangzhou Bus Group Baiyun Company. Notably, the company recently introduced high-speed commercial passenger services at Beijing’s Daxing Airport, with no at-fault accidents reported in over 1,700 days of operation.
Globally, the development of Robotaxi services varies widely. China and the U.S. lead in commercial operations, having launched services in specific areas without safety drivers. Other countries like Germany, France, and the UAE are conducting small-scale trials with safety drivers, while the UK and Saudi Arabia remain focused on road testing.
WeRide's upcoming launch marks a significant step in the global advancement of autonomous driving technology, further positioning the company as a key player in the rapidly evolving market.
