UBP Appoints Jamian Lai as Market Head for the Philippines

Union Bancaire Privée (UBP) has appointed Jamian Lai as the new Market Head for the Philippines, effective 13 January 2025. Lai, based in Hong Kong, will report directly to Ricardo Choi, Head of the Philippines.

With a career spanning nearly three decades in private banking and private markets, Lai brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. He is renowned for his deep experience in managing Ultra-High-Net-Worth Individuals (UHNWIs) and driving growth in strategic markets, particularly in the Philippines, a key focus for UBP's expansion across Asia.

Before joining UBP, Lai served as Venture Partner and Head of Investor Relations at Headline Asia, a prominent venture capital firm. In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in fundraising initiatives and cultivating relationships with institutional and UHNWI investors, including large family offices, corporations, sovereign funds, pension funds, and endowments.

Earlier in his career, Lai served as Market Team Head for Hong Kong and the Philippines at UBS, where he showcased outstanding leadership by building a high-performing team and consistently meeting top KPI rankings. His professional experience also includes key roles in the private banking divisions of Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, and Standard Chartered, as well as a position as a private equity manager at Synergy Capital Advisors. Lai holds a Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies from Harvard University.
