UAE Based Yahsat Group To Funnel $100 Million in T4-NGS Satellite Programme
As per Yahsat Group, the business anticipates allocating more than $100 million this year for capital expenses related to the "T4-NGS" satellite program. The initiative, which is Thuraya's next-generation communications system, is expected to cost up to $550 million in total, including production, launch, insurance, and new ground infrastructure, and it is expected to start providing operational service in H1 2025.
Yahsat Group CEO Ali Al Hashemi reaffirmed the company's commitment to continue investing in such programs, including the T4-NGS satellite, by stating that the company has invested more than $2 billion since its founding in satellite equipment, including Al Thuraya satellites, and more than $1 billion in relevant ground infrastructure worldwide
Al Hashimi emphasized that more than 150 nations in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, South America, Asia, and Australasia are served by Yahsat's multi-mission satellite services. More than 80% of the world's population is covered by Yahsat's fleet of five satellites, providing vital services like internet, video broadcasting, backhauling, and mobile phone and data solutions.
Al Hashemi said that Yahsat is looking for chances to grow its operations and enter new industries, such as direct device communication solutions that offer direct access from satellites to billions of devices. Yahsat is planning to enter new countries, according to Al Hashemi. In particular, businesses interested in providing value-added services to their clients, phone makers and telecoms carriers have shown a lot of interest in this concept.
