Sun Life Appoints Benjamin Deng as President of Asia Asset Management
Sun Life has announced the appointment of Benjamin Deng as President of Asia Asset Management, effective January 1. In this newly established position, Deng will oversee Sun Life's asset management operations, driving the growth of the company's insurance and asset management businesses in Asia.
As president of Asia Asset Management, he will lead the company’s investment management strategy and operations and drive strategic initiatives to build Sun Life’s position as a leading asset manager in the region, according to a statement by the Canadian insurer.
Deng will also join Sun Life’s Asia executive team and will report directly to Manjit Singh, president of Sun Life Asia and Steve Peacher, executive chair of SLC Management, Sun Life’s institutional asset management business.
Deng joins Sun Life from Ping An Insurance where he was the group chief investment officer, responsible for group-wide insurance investment management with $740bn in AUM. Prior to that, he held roles as group chief investment officer at China Pacific Insurance (Group), and group head of investment solutions and derivatives at AIA.
