StarHub and Global Switch Unveil Cutting-Edge Low-Latency Network

Separator

StarHub and data centre operator Global Switch are teaming up to introduce the Low Latency Data Centre Connect network. This initiative aims to enhance connectivity at Global Switch Singapore’s Woodlands and Tai Seng data centres. “With Low Latency Data Centre Connect, we aim to offer a purpose-built fibre network with minimal hops and the latest state-of-the-art optical technology, supporting mission-critical application-sensitive workloads to address customers’ latency-sensitive business needs”, said Kit Yong Tan, StarHub’s head of enterprise business group.

With the Low Latency Data Centre Connect service, clients of Global Switch in Singapore can anticipate secure and readily available connectivity to a worldwide network of significant data centre ecosystems and submarine cable points of presence (PoPs), ensuring smooth connectivity.

Powered by Cloud Infinity, StarHub's hybrid multi-cloud platform, this partnership will offer "ultra-low-latency connectivity" to Global Switch Singapore's data centres in Woodlands and Tai Seng. Tai Seng is recognized as one of Singapore's most interconnected data centres and a crucial hub for connectivity in the Asia Pacific region. The facility boasts an advanced fiber network that is completely diverse, ensuring optimal reliability with multiple pathways.

Additionally, the sophisticated fiber network features software-defined network capabilities, enabling swift scalability to address the increasing bandwidth needs of demanding over-the-top (OTT) and cloud-based data services and applications. Complementing this capability is a quantum encryption-ready network, ensuring both a secure network and robust protection against sophisticated cyber attacks.

“Virtually all ISPs, content delivery and hyperscalers are hosted at our two data centres in Singapore”, Global Switch’s managing director of Singapore Terence Teo said. “Having Low Latency Data Centre Connect at our sites will enable all other data centres and cable landing stations in Singapore connect to Global Switch Singapore for access to content and interconnections”.
