SingPost and Cainiao Partner to Boost Logistics for Southeast Asia eCommerce

Singapore Post Limited (SingPost), a prominent postal and eCommerce logistics provider in the Asia Pacific region, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Cainiao, a global leader in e-commerce logistics. This MOU aims to explore strategic partnerships to support the sustained growth of Singapore's cargo and logistics sectors. The collaboration will enhance both organizations' logistics networks, positioning them to better capture the growing eCommerce market in Southeast Asia.

According to Statista, the eCommerce market is expected to be worth US$186 billion by 2025, up from approximately US$139 billion in 2023. "Singapore's strategic location and world-class infrastructure make it an ideal transshipment hub for the growing eCommerce sector in Asia. This collaboration with Cainiao aligns with our path of digitalization and our focus on eCommerce logistics", said Li Yu, CEO, International, SingPost. "By combining our strengths, we aim to enhance service quality for our customers".

With the eCommerce industry experiencing rapid growth, the MOU will target optimizing delivery costs and increasing volumes by integrating Cainiao's cutting-edge technology solutions with SingPost's extensive logistics network. This partnership aims to enhance shipment consolidation and improve delivery route efficiency.

The areas of cooperation encompass enhancing Singapore's position as an air cargo transshipment hub, creating innovative postal products for China and Southeast Asia, integrating Cainiao's technology to boost operational efficiency, and improving last-mile delivery services both within Singapore and in the wider region.

We look forward to collaborating with partners like SingPost to contribute to a robust eCommerce logistics ecosystem. By integrating our technology with SingPost's network, we aim to provide reliable logistics solutions that support global connectivity, facilitate trade between Southeast Asia and the rest of the world, and strengthen Cainiao's presence in Asia Pacific". The collaboration is set to commence with a pilot project in the coming months, with both parties working closely to assess the feasibility of the different workstreams.
