Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Riyadh Air have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a collaborative partnership between the two airlines. The agreement aims to explore various avenues of cooperation, subject to regulatory approval.

One key aspect of the MoU involves investigating opportunities for interline connectivity on each other’s flight services. Additionally, the carriers will delve into potential areas of commercial collaboration, including codeshare agreements, reciprocal benefits for their respective frequent flyer programs, cargo services, enhancements to customer experience, and digital innovation initiatives. These initial steps are seen as laying the groundwork for a more extensive and strategic long-term partnership.

The collaboration holds promise for Riyadh Air’s passengers, potentially granting them access to Singapore Airlines’ extensive network spanning Southeast Asia and the Southwest Pacific region. Conversely, it opens up opportunities for Singapore Airlines customers to access Riyadh Air’s future network in the Middle East region.

Riyadh Air, a new airline based in Saudi Arabia, is poised to commence its commercial operations in 2025. Tony Douglas, the CEO of Riyadh Air, expressed optimism about the partnership, emphasizing the benefits it would bring to future passengers. He highlighted the potential for enhanced connectivity across Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the Middle East, leveraging Singapore Airlines' renowned hub at Singapore Changi Airport.

Owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), Riyadh Air aims to differentiate itself as a digitally driven, full-service airline committed to global sustainability and safety standards. With an advanced fleet of aircraft, the carrier aspires to serve over 100 destinations by 2030, contributing to the connectivity and accessibility of air travel in the region and beyond.
