SaraSarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) and Kintone Southeast Asia Sdn Bhd (Kintone) have signed an agreement to solidify a strategic collaboration to spearhead digital usage among Malaysia's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The strategic collaboration is part of the vital move to bring Sarawak's digital economy forward and supporting the state vision of a technological, sustainable future.

The collaboration comes on the heels of the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SDEC and Kintone with the aim of tapping into cutting-edge digital solutions to drive local businesses. To get their initiatives going, SDEC and Kintone co-organised the first SME Digital Transformation Seminar in Kuching on February 18, helping SMEs acquire the knowledge and tools required to adopt digitalisation.

Sarawak has become a digital transformation leader, with the state government proactively investing in infrastructure to facilitate businesses. The partnership between SDEC and Kintone aims to meet the increasing need for affordable and flexible digital solutions, as outlined in the Sarawak Digital Economy Blueprint 2030.

SMEs are the backbone of Malaysia's economy, comprising about 97% of all enterprises. Understand the predicament of most SMEs when it comes to embracing technology, Kintone has a no-code platform that streamlines workflow automation. "Our platform helps SMEs in different industries such as tourism, construction, and retail create tailor-made applications without the necessity for huge IT capabilities", said Tsubasa Nakazawa, Managing Director of Kintone Southeast Asia. "This obviates the necessity for large IT costs and empowers business to automate workflows efficiently".

Nakazawa pointed out that Kintone has more than 37,000 customers worldwide, ranging from businesses and government organizations to community organizations. "Our mission is to enable companies of all sizes to integrate digital solutions that drive productivity, enhance collaboration, and enable scalable growth", he further stated.

The SDEC x Kintone seminar brought together top government officials, business leaders, and entrepreneurs, providing them with insights on how digital solutions can enhance efficiency without the need for IT skills. Attendees took part in panel discussions and hands-on demonstrations highlighting how Kintone's user-friendly platform simplifies workflows, eliminates operational backlogs, and improves collaboration. The seminar also provided a good networking platform for companies to share ideas and discover digital possibilities.

As Sarawak embarks on its digital transformation journey, the collaboration between SDEC and Kintone reaffirms a common vision of empowering SMEs. Through the delivery of affordable and pragmatic digital solutions, this collaboration is poised to drive economic growth and innovation in Sarawak, Borneo, and Malaysia.
