OpenAI and TIME Forge Dynamic Multi-Year Content Partnership
OpenAI and global media company TIME have entered a multi-year partnership aimed at integrating TIME’s journalism into OpenAI’s products, including ChatGPT. This collaboration underscores TIME’s dedication to broadening worldwide access to reliable and trusted information.
As part of this collaboration, OpenAI will utilize current and historical content from TIME’s vast archives spanning the past 101 years to enrich its products, presenting this information in response to user queries with proper attribution and linking back to the original source on Time.com.
Additionally, the partnership will allow TIME to leverage OpenAI’s technology to create innovative products for its audiences. TIME will also have the chance to offer valuable feedback, explore practical applications, and collaborate on refining the delivery of journalism within ChatGPT and other OpenAI products, thereby influencing the future of news experiences.
Mark Howard, chief operating officer at TIME, said, “Throughout our 101-year history, TIME has embraced innovation to ensure that the delivery of our trusted journalism evolves alongside technology. This partnership with OpenAI advances our mission to expand access to trusted information globally as we continue to embrace innovative new ways of bringing TIME’s journalism to audiences globally”.
Meanwhile, Brad Lightcap, chief operating officer of OpenAI, commented, “We’re partnering with TIME to make it easier for people to access news content through our AI tools, and to support reputable journalism by providing proper attribution to original sources”.
