OcbcOCBC Indonesia has joined forces with Cloudera to spearhead its transition to a digital-first banking model, aiming to enhance customer experiences through advanced data and AI capabilities. This strategic collaboration is set to integrate Cloudera's hybrid platform with OCBC’s operations, enabling the bank to offer more intelligent and personalized services to its clientele.

The partnership leverages Cloudera's generative AI (GenAI) solutions alongside its robust data management and analytics infrastructure. This integration supports OCBC Indonesia’s vision to deliver real-time, transformer-based AI models that provide personalized recommendations and insights. The bank’s chief technology officer, Komang Yasa, underscored the value of this technological adoption. “OCBC Indonesia believes that adopting technology will add value to the customer experience as a strategic objective”, Yasa stated. “Implementing modern data technology and launching GenAI projects is one of the milestones for the bank to stay ahead and become forefront in the industry.”

The bank’s in-house data science team required a hybrid strategy to align with their data lake and facilitate seamless operation across various integrated applications. This approach ensures that data scientists and business users can collaborate effectively, enhancing the bank’s capability to respond to customer needs with innovative solutions.

Cloudera’s country manager for Indonesia, Sherlie Karnidta, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the potential for extensive application development and AI integration. “We are thrilled to be working with OCBC Indonesia to help them build an extensible platform that allows them to easily and flexibly build applications and leverage tools and frameworks to drive business transformation”, Karnidta remarked.

Looking ahead, OCBC Indonesia plans to broaden the application of AI and machine learning (ML) across its systems. The goal is to establish a strong, adaptable foundation for AI at scale, enhancing customer innovation and regulatory compliance. This initiative positions OCBC Indonesia at the forefront of digital banking innovation, emphasizing the integration of technology and customer experience as key drivers of future growth.
