Nexmedis Secures Funding to Drive AI Healthcare Solutions

Nexmedis, an Indonesia-based provider of AI-powered Health Information Systems (HIS), has secured undisclosed funding co-led by East Ventures and Forge Ventures.
According to Nexmedis, this funding will drive its mission to transform healthcare operations, improve clinical services, and enhance patient outcomes throughout Indonesia.
This funding will help the firm expand its services to hospitals across Indonesia.
The firm also plans to launch more tailored AI solutions to tackle Indonesia’s healthcare challenges.
“We are thrilled to have secured this investment, which will be a game-changer as we continue to innovate and bring AI-driven solutions to healthcare,
“The commitment from East Ventures and Forge Ventures is a testament to the trust they’ve placed in our mission to bridge the healthcare accessibility gap through innovative technology”, said Yehuda Dani Utomo, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Nexmedis.
“With their support, we are poised to accelerate our growth and impact to improve patient care and outcomes”, he added.
According to the statement, inefficiencies in healthcare, particularly due to manual administrative tasks and fragmented data, have slowed diagnosis and treatment.
Additionally, Indonesia’s vast geography makes it difficult to provide advanced medical tools and training in remote areas, affecting the quality of patient care.
Nexmedis was founded in 2023 by Yehuda Dani Utomo (Co-Founder and CEO), Matilda Narulita (Co-Founder and COO), and Dr. Almer Deta Tarandha (Co-Founder and CMO). The company leverages expertise in computer science, management consulting, and medicine to drive innovation in healthcare.
The firm’s solutions mainly focus on incorporating AI into healthcare processes, providing a more efficient and effective healthcare output.
Nexmedis presents an AI-powered HIS that improves the end-to-end journey of a patient and healthcare provider.
It starts from Nexmedis’ Clinical Decision Support (CDS) solution that assists healthcare professionals by providing diagnosis recommendations with ICD-10 codes (International Classification of Diseases 10th Revision, a universal code for diseases), which allows tailored treatment recommendations and smooth insurance claims processing, ensuring accurate data input and documentation for Indonesia’s Social Security Agency on Health (BPJS) and private insurers.
Moreover, Nexmedis is currently developing an AI-powered transcription tool that converts voice notes and summarizes conversations between patients and doctors into structured digital records.
The system is designed to minimize manual paperwork and streamline operations, significantly reducing administrative tasks and enabling healthcare providers to focus more on patient care. The tool is set to be launched soon.
Since August 2023, Nexmedis has served over 400 healthcare facilities.
Its medical diagnostics AI has achieved “Fostered by the Ministry of Health” (Dibina oleh Kemenkes) status in the Regulatory Sandbox program of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia.
The firm has made official partnerships with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology for AI-powered health digitalization and leading institutions such as Gadjah Mada University as their research partner.
“We are glad to be part of Nexmedis’ journey in transforming Indonesia’s healthcare landscape by integrating AI to enhance efficiency and improve patient care,
“Their strong development and partnerships with key institutions demonstrate the urgent need for innovative digital solutions in the sector”, said Melisa Irene, Partner at East Ventures.
“We are excited to support Nexmedis in scaling its positive impact and driving meaningful advancements in healthcare across Indonesia”, she added.
Tiang Lim Foo, Managing Partner at Forge Ventures, at the basis of great companies, are great founders and people, and the fund is looking forward to partnering with Nexmedis’ leaders who are driving change in a vital sector in Indonesia through their innovative products.
