Kaia, a high-performance layer 1 blockchain developed by two of Asia's leading messaging apps, Kakao and LINE, has officially launched its highly anticipated mainnet. This marks a significant milestone in opening up Web 3 services to millions of users across Asia. Alongside the mainnet launch, Kaia introduced the Kaia Wave Builder support program, a joint initiative with LINE NEXT, aimed at accelerating the adoption of Web 3 services among consumers.

The Abu Dhabi-based company ranks as one of Asia's biggest Web 3 companies, boasting 400 partners and a massive ecosystem across the region. The company was founded following Kakao and LINE’s entry into blockchain as the two messaging app operators launched L1 chains, Klaytn and Finschia. Kaia was born out of the merger of the two blockchains.

Kaia, the largest Web 3 ecosystem in Asia, provides advanced Web 3 services to Web 2 users through its integration with Kakaotalk and LINE messenger. By blending Web 3 experiences with the simplicity and speed of Web 2 within their preferred messenger super app, Kaia enables over 250 million Kakaotalk and LINE users to connect, create, collaborate, and contribute to the blockchain ecosystem.

Speaking on the launch of the mainnet, Dr. Sam Seo, Chairman of Kaia DLT Foundation, spoke on the potential that Kaia holds, stating, “The much-anticipated launch of the Kaia mainnet heralds a new era for the mass consumer adoption of blockchain-based services. Kaia will bring web3 to the rest of the world, starting from Asia”.

Kaia users can access the mainnet and enjoy the ultra-high speeds, low gas fees, and leading support that the blockchain offers. The strategic partnerships with some of the most popular Web 3 firms in Asia, such as Kakao and LINE NEXT, will further extend the development of the platform and its expansion to global markets.

The team announced that the mainnet launch will enable faster development on the platform by leveraging its scalable blockchain. Kaia also seeks to address Web 3's UX and distribution challenges through deep integration with leading Asian messaging apps. This approach is set to foster a vibrant ecosystem of DeFi, gaming, RWAs, and messenger apps, all operating on scalable Web 3 infrastructure.

Praising Kaia’s mainnet launch, Youngsu Ko, CEO of LINE NEXT Inc., termed it 'an important momentum' in its vision and goals. He believes the launch will drive LINE NEXT’s business forward and enable futuristic innovations, as the company gears towards expanding the Asian Web3 ecosystem. “LINE NEXT will focus on bringing new experiences to users with the new Web3 platform and LINE Mini Dapps through Kaia Wave”, Youngsu Ko added.

Alongside the mainnet launch, Kaia unveiled the 'Kaia Wave Builder Support Program,' co-sponsored by Kaia and LINE NEXT. This initiative is designed to accelerate Web 3 development within messaging apps across Asia, offering up to $1.2M in marketing, tech, and business support for eligible teams. Builders using the NEXT Web SDK can apply for grants and will also receive TGE and liquidity support, along with connections to venture capital for further growth.
