Ellis joins the Forensic Accounting and Commercial Losses practise of HKA as one of the foremost authorities in Southeast Asia on valuing and quantifying damages.

He has worked for Charles River Associates, Deloitte, Accuracy, and most recently Secretariat over his nearly two decades in the consulting business. “It’s a pleasure to join a firm with such excellent multi-disciplinary depth across Asia Pacific and globally,” Ellis said of his move.

For the purposes of litigation, arbitration, and expert decision, Ellis specialises mostly in dispute contexts. His experience includes engagements in the UK and Singapore High Courts as well as in ad hoc, SIAC, LCIA, ICC, HKIAC, UNCITRAL, and ICSID arbitration venues. He has also worked on litigation and arbitration matters.

He has frequently testified orally in court and in arbitration, and he has served as a tribunal-appointed expert. Ellis also carried out a great deal of independent accounting reviews and investigations.

Ellis, a long-time recognised expert by Who's Who Legal (especially for Expert Witnesses and Quantum of Damages), has supported individuals in the manufacturing, mining, energy, power, and pharmaceutical industries.

“I’m thrilled to have someone of Jonathan’s calibre join the business. As a renowned testifying expert, his presence will bring additional firepower to our Asia Pacific practice and benefit our clients globally,” said Jonathan Humphrey, Head of Forensic Accounting and Commercial Damages across the Asia Pacific region.

With its global headquarters in London, HKA operates out of more than 25 locations, 9 of which are devoted to its integrated Asia Pacific business. Along with owners and operators, financial institutions, insurers, and government organisations, the firm also works with builders and contractors, law firms, and other professional service providers.

HKA teamed up with French investor PAI Partners last year to advance its growth objectives. Since the finance agreement from August 2022, HKA has completed the acquisitions of GMR Aviation Consulting in the UK and TM Financial Forensics in the US.
