Japanese Firm DIC Corporation Acquires Photoresist Polymers Manufacturer PCAS Canada

As per DIC Corporation, it purchased all of the stock in PCAS Canada Inc., a firm situated in Quebec that creates and sells polymers used in photoresists for semiconductor photolithography, from PCAS S.A. on June 1, 2023.

With the development and spread of the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, artificial intelligence, and other cutting-edge information technologies, the semiconductor market is expanding globally and gaining importance. In this context, DIC has positioned expanding its portfolio of photoresist* materials, which are essential to semiconductor fabrication, as a key strategy in the area of products for digital applications and is encouraging the development of cutting-edge photoresist polymers. DIC seeks to contribute to an increasingly digital society as set forth in its DIC Vision 2030 long-term management plan.

PCAS Canada, which has a manufacturing facility southeast of Montreal, excels in providing photoresist materials with the high purity and low metal content necessary for use in semiconductor photolithography. PCAS Canada also boasts great production technology and mass production know-how. 

The ability of DIC to meet the demands of the semiconductor industry, which is still driven by technological advancement, will be improved by the combination of these production technologies with its own synthesis technologies, which is a key strength. This will further contribute to digital innovation.

Since then, Innovation DIC Chimitroniques Inc. (formerly "Innovation DIC Chemitronics Inc.") has replaced PCAS Canada as the corporate name. In the near future, DIC will seek to accelerate the company's product development for innovative processes, make capital expenditures to increase its supply capabilities, and establish a corporate structure suitable for the needs of DIC Group clients in both North America and Asia. Through these initiatives, DIC will keep providing the materials that support the expansion and development of the semiconductor industry.
