The Namsan Green Building, a high-end office building in Seoul's Central Business District ("CBD"), will be purchased by funds managed by KKR under definitive agreements that were signed , according to the leading global investment firm KKR. These agreements were made possible by the creation of collective investment vehicles in accordance with the Financial Investment Services and Capital Markets Act of Korea.

Namsan Green Building, a 57,574-square-meter office building in Seoul that was finished in 1994, is conveniently situated close to important transportation hubs, including Seoul Station, which connects to all of the country's major cities, and the Seoul Station Bus Transit, which serves the Greater Seoul area. Today, the structure serves as the corporate headquarters of SK Broadband, a division of Korea's largest wireless carrier, SK Telecom, and the telecommunications division of SK Group, one of the biggest conglomerates in the nation.

This acquisition occurs at a time when the fundamentals of the office market are strong and demand for office space is rising sharply despite a robust labour market and a shortage of office space in Korea.

David Cheong, Managing Director, Real Estate at KKR, said, “Our investment in Namsan Green Building provides us with a unique opportunity to acquire a high-quality asset in a strategic location and add value by leveraging our real estate expertise to enhance its offerings for today’s modern office demands. We remain confident in the long-term prospects of Korea’s office real estate market, where future supply is extremely limited and demand for office space continues to be resilient, and look forward to helping the country meet its office space needs.”

Asia Real Estate Partners, KKR's Asia-specific value-add and opportunistic real estate fund, is the main source of KKR's investment. The Namsan Green Building is KKR's most recent real estate investment in South Korea, and it joins other office investments the company has made in the nation and throughout Asia, such as Namsan Square, an office tower in Seoul's CBD, K Twin Towers, a premium commercial property in Seoul's CBD, Centerfield, a premier office complex in Seoul's Gangnam Business District, Twenty Anson, an office building of the highest calibre in Singapore's CBD, and office assets throughout Japan. As of December 31, 2022, the real estate division of KKR is responsible for managing assets worth about US$65 billion globally. The deal is anticipated to close in May 2023.
