Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison is strengthening its collaboration with Google Cloud to enhance its AI Native TechCo vision, marking a transition beyond its traditional role as a telecommunications provider. This new agreement integrates Indosat's network, operational, and customer data with Google Cloud’s comprehensive AI platform, aimed at delivering advanced digital services to more than 100 million Indosat customers.

According to both parties, their collaborative efforts will concentrate on developing customized AI and GenAI solutions tailored to meet specific opportunities and challenges within the Indonesian market. The partnership is driven by the potential of AI agents and applications to enhance human capabilities through multimodal data analysis, pattern recognition, and recommendations. This aims to unlock new revenue streams and improve efficiencies.

“Our collaboration with Google Cloud is not just a pivotal milestone for Indosat, but also a significant stride in our mission to transform into an AI Native TechCo. Together, we will harness the full potential of cloud and AI to drive innovation, create new opportunities and propel Indonesia’s digital economy forward,” said Vikram Sinha, president director and CEO of Indosat.

As part of their initiatives, there will be a rollout aimed at modernizing customer service. Call center personnel will utilize Google Cloud’s Contact Centre AI solutions, integrating GenAI tools to boost their productivity and efficiency. Additionally, conversational agents powered by GenAI will be developed and implemented to provide self-service options across Indosat’s digital platforms. As part of supporting content generation and hyper-personalisation, Indosat and Google Cloud have also created AI agents with multimodal and multilingual capabilities to promote relevant offerings based on a customer’s profile and specific needs.

Furthermore, Google Cloud has developed custom machine learning (ML) models in geospatial analytics and predictive modeling, leveraging Indosat’s operational datasets. These models aim to assist organizations across various sectors in making data-driven decisions. They include optimizing site selection for strategic expansion, improving asset management and maintenance using real-time location and condition data, and modeling potential scenarios of natural disasters to develop proactive mitigation strategies.

Meanwhile, Indosat and Google Cloud are collaborating on another initiative aimed at enhancing organizations' networks and IT operations. This effort involves deploying self-optimizing systems driven by customized machine learning and multimodal models. These systems are designed to achieve cost savings, promote sustainable operations, and enhance service reliability. Key capabilities include predicting return on investment (ROI) from capital investments, reducing energy consumption, optimizing asset design and utilization, and proactively identifying and resolving issues.

Finally, to advance back-office transformation, Indosat and Google Cloud have created specialized enterprise search applications powered by GenAI. These applications are tailored for various business functions such as human resources, legal, procurement, and finance teams. Alongside developing innovative business solutions, Indosat and Google Cloud will also explore collaborative go-to-market strategies to empower Indonesia’s digital ecosystem.

They aim to offer micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), startups, enterprises, and public sector organizations access to these solutions, in addition to Google Cloud's AI-optimized infrastructure, unified data platform, and integrated AI development platform. “Indosat’s early adoption of cloud-native architectures and an AI-ready data analytics platform exemplifies its forward-thinking approach”, added Karan Bajwa, vice president of Asia Pacific at Google Cloud.
