Google Cloud Names Veteran Rahul Sharma as APAC Public Sector Head

Rahul Sharma assumes the role of Managing Director for Google Cloud's Public Sector division in Asia Pacific, spearheading initiatives aimed at collaborating with governmental and educational institutions to propel their digital agendas. This strategic appointment underscores Google Cloud's dedication to aiding public sector entities in modernizing operations, leveraging Cloud and AI capabilities to deliver citizen-focused digital services and bolster cybersecurity measures on a large scale. Based in Singapore, Sharma reports directly to Karan Bajwa, Vice President of Google Cloud in the Asia Pacific region.

Bringing nearly thirty years of experience to his new role, Rahul Sharma, who previously held regional leadership positions at Amazon Web Services (AWS) Public Sector business for Asia Pacific, AWS India, and IBM, steps into his latest appointment. Sharma's track record includes advocating for technology-driven positive change, with involvement in industry organizations such as NASSCOM, where he played a pivotal role in developing the National COVID response platform and leading efforts to enhance the skill set of the Indian IT workforce. Additionally, he served as Chair of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) IT & ITES Council from 2022 to 2023.
