Davos 2023: World Economic Forum to commence today

World leaders will attend the World Economic Forum meeting, which starts in Davos on Monday, to debate urgent concerns like the conflict in Russia and Ukraine, global inflation, climate change, etc.

The gathering, which has as its theme "Cooperation in a Fragmented World," will end on January 20. More than 2,700 representatives from 130 nations, including 52 heads of state or government, will attend the 53rd annual summit.

Another significant forum for world leaders to address the many challenges facing the planet is the WEF summit. These crises have divided the global landscape as well as widened divisions.

"We see the manifold political, economic and social forces creating increased fragmentation on a global and national level. To address the root causes of this erosion of trust, we need to reinforce cooperation between the government and business sectors, creating the conditions for a strong and durable recovery," WEF Founder and Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab said.

The World Economic Forum will welcome leaders from throughout the world. They include Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, Olaf Scholz, chancellor of Germany, Roberta Metsola, president of the European Parliament, Cyril M. Ramaphosa, prime minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, presidents of South Korea and Switzerland, Yoon Suk-yeol and Alain Berset, and Sanna Marin, prime minister of Finland.

Moreover, a number of Indian politicians, business owners, and young entrepreneurs will attend the summit. Union ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw, Mansukh Mandaviya, Smriti Irani, and R K Singh will attend the WEF meeting. State chief ministers B S Bommai, Yogi Adityanath, and Eknath Shinde will also attend the conference.
