Dam Seo-won Promoted to Executive Director at Orion Group
Dam Seo-won, the eldest son of Orion Group Chairman Dam Chul-gon and a third-generation heir, was promoted from managing director to executive director within two years of joining the company. He has been with Orion for three years and five months.
Orion Group made its regular personnel appointments on the 23rd of 2025. Born in 1989, Dam, who is 35 years old, is the eldest son of Chairman Dam Chul-gon and Vice Chairman Lee Hwa-kyung.
He joined Orion as the senior manager of the management support team in July 2021, and was promoted from personnel to managing director of the management support team in December 2022, a year and five months later. This is the first time in two years that the executive director has been promoted.
Dam, who graduated from New York University and obtained an MBA from Beijing University, also worked at Kakao Enterprise just before joining Orion.
Executive Director Dam is taking management classes by carrying out practical tasks across management, including establishing and managing Orion Group's business strategy, supporting global businesses, and new species projects. In addition, Orion has been playing a leading role in establishing an enterprise-wide management system (ERP) since last year.
Additionally, he plays a key role in major decision-making as an in-house director at Rigachem Bio, which became an affiliate this year.
Executive Director Dam holds a 1.22% stake in Orion Holdings and a 1.23% stake in Orion. Analysts suggest that his promotion marks the beginning of Orion’s succession of management control.
Orion official said, "Orion is a company that conducts responsible management centered on professional managers in the holding company system," adding, "The responsible management system for professional managers will continue in the future amid harmony between major shareholders and professional managers".
