Crypto Firm DCG Names Mark Shifke As Chief Financial Officer
The chief financial officer of Digital Currency Group has been named as Mark Shifke, a former executive at JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs. According to a statement from the business, Shifke has approximately 40 years of expertise in the financial sector and is an expert in mergers and acquisitions. He most recently served as CFO of Billtrust, a provider of financial services.
The hiring comes as DCG is engaged in legal disputes with Gemini, the principal creditor of DCG's bankrupt bitcoin lending company Genesis. In addition to Genesis, DCG also owns a variety of other cryptocurrency businesses, such as the prominent New York-based digital asset management Grayscale and the cryptocurrency news and events website CoinDesk.
"Mark brings deep finance and fintech experience, strategic vision, and overall presence as a leader to the role," DCG founder and CEO Barry Silbert said.
A venture capital firm that specializes in the market for digital currencies is called Digital Currency Group (DCG). It is situated in Connecticut's Stamford. CoinDesk, Foundry, Genesis, Grayscale Investments, and Luno are the five divisions of the corporation.
The former CEO of SecondMarket, Inc., Barry Silbert, founded the Digital Currency Group in 2015. In 2013, he started making investments in firms using blockchain technology.Silbert founded the Digital Currency Group shortly after SecondMarket was sold, with Genesis and Grayscale serving as the organization's first subsidiaries.
