Courtney Lau Joins OneDegree as Head of Growth

OneDegree Hong Kong Limited, the virtual insurer, has appointed Courtney Lau as its new head of growth, citing the move as a means to bolster its leadership team. As per a press statement, this decision aligns with the company's dedication to improving its digital footprint and enhancing client experiences through tailored offerings.

In this role,  Lau will assume responsibility for managing the complete customer journey, spanning digital distribution channels to enduring retention efforts. Her mandate involves identifying and executing strategies aimed at captivating customers with OneDegree's array of products and services during pivotal life stages, with the overarching goal of amplifying product interaction and enhancing customer lifetime value.

With more than a decade of expertise in digital marketing and ecommerce, Lau brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Prior to joining OneDegree, she served at a 4As media advertising agency, where she oversaw accounts for numerous financial institutions such as HSBC, FWD, and Promise. Throughout her tenure, Lau held senior positions, specializing in digital marketing, as well as marketing and account management.

In 2021, Lau became part of Dyson's ecommerce team, where she assumed responsibility for overseeing the direct-to-consumer business and enhancing customer experiences across the Hong Kong and Taiwan markets. Before her tenure at Dyson, she held positions at various companies, including Blockpass, Mindshare, and OMD Hong Kong. “With Courtney’s enthusiasm and expertise in eCommerce and digital, she will help continuously accelerating OneDegree’s digital innovations and scaling our business”, said Emily Chow, deputy chief executive of OneDegree.

Founded in August 2016, OneDegree obtained a virtual insurer license from the Hong Kong Insurance Authority in April 2020. The company offers a comprehensive suite of insurance services catering to both individuals and businesses. Their offerings include pet insurance, human medical insurance, e-commerce coverage, home insurance, professional indemnity, directors' and officers' insurance, cyber security, and digital asset protection. Notably, in June 2023, OneDegree Group successfully secured US$55 million in a Series B funding round.
