Chaucer Appoints Ivan Sit as Marine Class Underwriter for APAC Expansion
Chaucer, a specialty re/insurance group, has appointed industry veteran Ivan Sit as Class Underwriter, Marine, to drive the company’s marine insurance offering across Asia-Pacific through Lloyd’s Singapore platform. With over 25 years of experience in the Asian Marine insurance market, Sit joins Chaucer from China Taiping Insurance (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., where he served as Head of Marine.
Sit will report to Margaret To, CEO of Chaucer Singapore, and Simon Schnorr, Head of Marine & Energy at Chaucer. Schnorr highlighted Sit’s expertise as instrumental to Chaucer’s APAC strategy. “Ivan’s leadership in Singapore will be key to helping Chaucer build on our success and expand our Marine business,” said Schnorr.
Throughout his career, Sit has held senior roles at both insurance and reinsurance firms, as well as major broking houses. His experience spans positions with Asia Capital Re, The Shipowners’ Club, Sompo Insurance Singapore, Malaysian Reinsurance Berhad, Tahan Insurance Malaysia Berhad, and HSBC.
Commenting on his new role, Sit expressed enthusiasm about joining Chaucer’s marine team. “I’m very excited to be joining a marine team with as strong a reputation as Chaucer’s. I look forward to working with Simon and Margaret – and helping to grow Chaucer’s footprint in the marine segment,” he said.
Chaucer’s Lloyd’s Singapore platform has been a pivotal conduit for extending its leading insurance and reinsurance classes to the APAC region, and Sit’s appointment signals Chaucer’s commitment to expanding its presence in marine insurance in the region.
