Brembo to invest 40 Million Euros in Thailand facility, Boost SE Asia Presence
Brembo, a prominent manufacturer of braking systems, has inaugurated its inaugural production facility in Thailand. With an investment amounting to approximately 40 million euros (equivalent to Rs 350 crore), this move underscores the company's commitment to broadening its manufacturing footprint worldwide. Furthermore, this strategic decision positions Brembo to capitalize on emerging growth prospects within the Southeast Asian market.
Situated in Rayong province, south of Bangkok, the newly established facility will produce braking systems tailored for motorcycle manufacturers in Thailand, initially focusing on those from Europe and America. As operations ramp up, the Brembo site anticipates employing approximately 150 individuals. This location strategically situates itself within Thailand's motorcycle industry epicenter.
Daniele Schillaci, CEO, Brembo said, “The opening of the new production site in Thailand is a crucial step in our global expansion strategy. We strengthen our position in the key two-wheeler segment and consolidate Brembo’s role as a Solution Provider for our customers operating in the country. With this investment, we lay the groundwork for further developments of our business in the ASEAN region".
On February 16, the company conducted the groundbreaking ceremony, signaling the initiation of construction activities. Scheduled for operational readiness in the first quarter of 2025, the site will initially encompass roughly 17,000 square meters, situated on a land parcel spanning approximately 40,000 square meters. There are provisions for expansion up to 95,000 square meters to accommodate future growth initiatives.
In addition to its recent acquisitions of SBS Friction in Denmark and J.Juan in Spain between 2020 and 2021, this project aligns with Brembo's strategic investments in the motorcycle sector. The Group asserts that these acquisitions have strengthened its portfolio of products tailored for two-wheelers. Presently, the motorcycle segment contributes roughly 13% to Brembo's total revenue.
