Bank Asia and Khulna University inks MoU to boost agri sector

At the university's campus yesterday, Prof. Mahmood Hossain, vice-chancellor, and Adil Chowdhury, president and managing director of Bank Asia, exchanged signed memoranda of agreement documents for a study to boost Bangladesh's agriculture sector's productivity.

Yesterday, Bank Asia Limited and Khulna University signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to increase agricultural output in Bangladesh.

According to a news release, Prof. Amit Roy Chowdhury, treasurer of Khulna University, and Tahmidur Rashid, senior executive vice-president of Bank Asia, signed the MoU in the latter's office in Khulna.

Under this MoU, Bank Asia will extend cooperation as a part of its corporate social responsibility activities to Khulna University for a research project on "introducing novel crop residue management approach for improving soil structure and crop productivity in the coastal saline soils of Bangladesh", undertaken by the department of soil, water and environment discipline of the university.

Senior representatives from both organisations were present, including Prof. Mahmood Hossain, vice-chancellor of the university, and Adil Chowdhury, president and managing director of Bank Asia.

A group of renowned business leaders who had achieved success in the year 1999 founded Bank Asia Ltd. A group of experienced bankers with decades of experience in domestic and foreign markets lead the bank's executive team. Several of the specialists who help the senior management team have experience in the global market.
