The establishment of Abu Dhabi's digital district, a new commercial hub in Zayed Port devoted to the city's digital commerce and logistics services, has been announced by AD Ports Group, a prominent facilitator of trade, logistics, and industry in Abu Dhabi.

The Digital District, the first structure built as part of the Digital Harbour project, will have a floor area of 370,000 square metres and include space for more than 20,000 digital innovators, researchers, and professionals.

Beginning with Maqta Gateway and the Digital Innovation Lab, which were founded in 2016 as research and development centres focusing on digitalizing commerce, Abu Dhabi Digital Harbor will be home to a variety of businesses specialised in digitalizing trade and logistical services.

Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed, a member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and the chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, officially opened it.

As a cornerstone of the development strategy to position Zayed Port as a distinctive destination for trade and investment services, the opening heralds the beginning of the first phase of development for Abu Dhabi's Digital Harbour.

Group Chairman Falah Mohammad Al Ahbabi said: "We are committed to providing smart solutions that facilitate trade from global markets and attract promising digital institutions to AD Ports Group’s Digital Harbour project in Abu Dhabi."

By eliminating physical trips to customer care centres and servicing more than 20,000 users digitally, Maqta Gateway has completed more than 110 million transactions, cut CO2 emissions by 1.6 million tonnes, and served more than 20,000 users.
