RHTLaw is pleased to announce that Ben Chester Cheong, Of Counsel, has been named a Visiting Fellow at the School of Law, University of Reading. In addition to his role as a law lecturer and MOE-START Overseas PhD Scholar at the Singapore University of Social Sciences, Ben will collaborate with esteemed academics and professionals at Reading, including Justice Andrew Phang, Professor Hitoshi Nasu, and Judge David Tyzack KC.
Ben’s appointment enhances RHTLaw’s international prestige and academic credibility, signaling to clients and peers that the firm employs practitioners who are recognized for their expertise beyond Singapore’s borders.
The appointment also strengthens the firm’s talent recruitment prospects. Having a lawyer serve as a visiting fellow at a prestigious UK institution makes the firm more appealing to high-caliber candidates, particularly those interested in firms with global reach.
Additionally, the visiting fellow role offers the firm an opportunity to contribute to academic discussions and publish scholarly work, reinforcing both the individual’s and the firm's thought leadership in specialized practice areas. This involvement in academia ensures the firm stays at the cutting edge of legal developments and underscores its dedication to legal scholarship, which is particularly valuable for clients seeking expert advice on complex matters.
