Top 10 COOs in Asia - 2022
A strong seasoned leader with a career spanning over 23 years in steering the business towards corporate success, Osama Ibdah joined Taj Holding Group in 2012, as a Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and since then has worked tirelessly to transform THG through his financial expertise and visionary leadership into a considerably large group which now deals in diversified sectors such as Logistics, Retail Fashion, Medical, Manufacturing, Renewable Energy Solution, Advanced Military Solutions, Aircraft Maintenance, and Food & Beverage
The business and corporate world has advanced pragmatically today and so its management. While the responsible C-suite executives promisingly lead the company across diverse organizational functions, Chief Operating Officers (COOs) are held accountable for keenly overseeing the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of a business. The COO of an organization upholds strong analytical, managerial, communication, and leadership skills. The COO directly reports to the company's CEO in screening operational decisions, while implementing the plans and strategies developed by the CEO, according to the established business model. Precisely, COO is the second in the chain of command and is variedly also known as `executive vice president of operations', or `operations director'. For decades, while the COO's role has remained more or less the same, often handling a company's internal affairs, it has mushroomed prolifically, in the recent past years with pandemic prevalence having to do with remote working.
Today, more than ever, COOs align closely with HR operations to concentrate on salary band adjustments, employee health plans, COVID-related issues and other people-management policies, all made more complex by the rise of hybrid and remote workforces. With the economic and business growth happening positively across the Asian region there are many COOs who have delineated their extensive skills and experience working for renowned organizations and startups recently. They need to be applauded for their exemplary constributions.
