In a close interview with us, Vincent shared about his milestones, challenges, and leadership style.
Could you provide a brief overview of your professional path? What key milestones and challenges have influenced your journey to date?
Starting the company in 2013, initially on my own, began a challenging yet rewarding journey. A major milestone came when we expanded our office and grew to a team of 40, relocating to a prestigious office in the central business district of Sathorn in 2017. This move significantly enhanced our ability to attract high-profile clients and improve our team’s quality. The toughest period was during the initial years when I faced the complexities of setting up a company in the legal profession and working with local tax authorities and regulatory bodies. It took three years to overcome these challenges, but once we gained the trust of our network and the business community in Bangkok, the business started to run more smoothly.
What motivated you to establish B-Accounting, and how do you leverage your previous experience to provide strategic guidance and governance expertise?
The inspiration behind founding B-Accounting stemmed from recognizing a strong demand from international clients for improved communication and service in accounting. I saw a gap that needed filling, specifically, the need for better reporting standards and quality, which was already offered by major accounting firms but at a much higher price. We aim to provide accessible services with a more westernized communication style and international standards, while also being more competitively priced.
It is crucial to collect all necessary information and develop a thorough understanding of the landscape before taking the next steps
How do you lead your team in fostering long-term client relationships? What steps do you take to ensure smooth and efficient collaborations with clients?
We prioritize extensive internal training to ensure effective communication, particularly for interacting with international clients. We've hired dedicated staff to bridge the communication gap between our Thai accountants and global customers, teaching them to communicate in a more internationalized manner. This cultural understanding is crucial, and our team values this training, which also resonates with our clients. Our company was built to serve small businesses, Asian subsidiaries of European firms, and expatriates in Southeast Asia. The main gap we identified was poor communication and inconsistent quality control in local accounting services. By focusing on clear communication with international head offices, particularly for medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), we were able to fill this void and cater to a market that had been frustrated with traditional accounting firms. This approach, which emphasizes international standards, has helped us become a leader in the field, offering services that were previously not available in such a manner.
How would you describe your leadership style? What principles or strategies do you implement in your role as a leader?
My leadership is based on precision, professionalism, and reliability. I stress the importance of being available and keeping promises, as reliability is key to success. I instil this value in my team, focusing on continuous innovation and progress. Our accounting practices have improved significantly over the years, and we remain committed to further enhancement. I also foster a family-like atmosphere within the company, treating each individual with care and ensuring personalized attention. As the founder, I’ve cultivated this culture and strive to maintain it long-term, despite the challenges of running a family business.
How do you envision the long-term future of your professional journey?
I hope to continue growing in Thailand and expand our legal services, which we've been offering for the past five to six years. While accounting remains our core strength, I plan to broaden our service portfolio, potentially integrating legal expertise, including litigation support. Additionally, I’m considering expanding the company’s presence in Southeast Asia, starting with legal services and later exploring opportunities in other countries in the region. For now, our focus remains on strengthening our operations in Thailand, but international expansion is certainly on the horizon.
What advice would you offer to emerging leaders in this field?
In the taxation or accounting services sector, it's crucial to thoroughly understand your environment before making any investments. Unfortunately, some decisions are made without a full grasp of the context, which can lead to unfavourable outcomes. Therefore, it's essential to gather all relevant information and gain a clear understanding of the landscape before moving forward. Additionally, as an entrepreneur or manager, success often depends on the ability to adapt to the future while maintaining qualities like empathy and humility. It’s important not to be overly self-confident or presumptuous, as circumstances can vary greatly depending on the location or situation. Emphasizing adaptability, cultural integration, and a humble approach is key to long-term success.
