Give a brief account of your professional background and experience. What is the motivation that fuels your daily routines?
I am a seasoned textile technologist with a solid foundation in textile engineering and a Master of Business Administration. Over the past 43 years, I have accumulated extensive experience across various regions, including Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America. My deep understanding of the textile industry led me, alongside my colleague Boobalan Pitchamuthu, to establish Texcom's Textile Solutions Consulting division. Recognizing a gap in the market for specialized consulting services, we founded this division to provide valuable insights and strategies for industry participants. Our mission is to drive innovation, improvement, and success within the textile sector. Texcom Textile Solutions is an integral part of the Texcoms Worldwide Group, reflecting our commitment to advancing the industry globally.
You possess over 43 years of experience. How has been your path to success and what is your success mantra?
My focus has always been on understanding the context, devising strategic plans, and leading teams effectively. I believe that the key to success lies in grasping the evolving situation and developing strategies that align with it. My approach revolves around three core areas: understanding the context, crafting a sound strategy, and leading people sionate about leadership, ensuring that the right culture is fostered within the firm and that our strategies are executed seamlessly. This focus has consistently driven our success, and it remains at the heart of everything I do.
What are the major factors that differentiate Texcoms Textile Solutions from the other players in the market?
At Texcoms Textile Solutions, I believe developing a solid strategy is only part of the journey. What truly sets us apart from other consulting firms is our commitment to hands-on implementation. We don't just design customized strategies; we work side by side with our clients to ensure those strategies are effectively executed. Would you share some of the guidelines or methodologies that you follow as a leader today, in your leadership approach?
I believe the key to success lies in surrounding yourself with the right people, crafting a solid strategy, and focusing on execution. Innovation is essential, as well as adapting as situations evolve while keeping results in focus. My approach has always been to ensure that the strategy and vision are clear and that the right team is in place to execute them. By prioritizing results and fostering growth, I've consistently driven progress and success.
When developing business models and constructing large-scale textile plants, what factors do you consider?
Texcoms worldwide also joined hands with visionary founder of Arise Gagan Gupta and started ATMS to assist resurgence of textile industry in Africa. The key to our strategy lies in carefully selecting the location for our large textile plants. We prioritize regions that offer a competitive advantage, particularly in terms of cost efficiency and proximity to key markets like the US and Europe. In today’s industry, the focus is on sustainable production and nearshoring, which are critical factors in our decision-making process. We ensure that our locations meet these criteria, aligning with the growing demand for compliance and sustainability from our end users. By understanding customer needs, we identify destinations that provide strategic benefits and develop our plans accordingly. This approach has consistently guided our success in the textile industry.
What is the future destination you are heading towards?
We are now focusing on Africa and Latin America as the next frontiers for our firm. Africa, with its large population and abundant natural resources, holds immense potential, despite its current lack of manufacturing infrastructure. Latin America, with its proximity to the North American market, also presents significant opportunities. Both regions are strategic priorities for our future manufacturing facilities.
In light of your strong experience within the industry, what advice would you give to budding industry leaders?
The most important thing is to thoroughly understand the changing context, maintain professional management, and surround the leader with the right talent. Leaders should focus on strategy and execution while prioritizing their employees' growth. These are the key areas I recommend leaders concentrate on for success.
