Could you provide a summary of your professional background and journey? What drives you in your daily endeavors?
I embarked on my professional journey 22 years ago as a Technical Service Person in a Sri Lankan company, when I was just 21 years old. My role involved visiting sites, conducting on-site water testing, preparing service reports, and communicating site issues and improvements to customers and supervisors. Through various opportunities in different industries, I cultivated strong customer relationships, honed my ability to understand customer needs, and became adept at troubleshooting. My penchant for exploring related topics greatly contributed to my career success. I progressed to the position of Service Engineer in Sri Lanka and later became the Area Service Engineer for Sri Lanka and Maldives, where I expanded our customer base in Maldives from just two to numerous clients.
In 2014, I joined a Maldivian company as the head of the Water Treatment Division, where I was the sole individual in charge. Despite facing the challenge of building the customer base from scratch, I was fortunate to have supportive leadership that encouraged me to nurture and grow the division. With determination and support, I managed to increase the Water Treatment division's monthly turnover by an impressive 300 percent compared to its previous condition. Eventually, in late 2021, I made the decision to resign from that company and established Chemlab.
When it comes to motivation, numerous life goals continue to propel me forward, serving as constant sources of motivation. Additionally, the responsibilities I hold at work, where I serve both my team and customers, underscore the importance of my presence and dedication.

How do you keep yourself up-to-date with ongoing industry trends to steer your organization towards the future?
Ensuring my organization remains forward-looking necessitates a proactive approach to staying abreast of industry developments. Attending industry conferences and training programs is a cornerstone of my strategy, providing firsthand insights into emerging trends and technologies. Additionally, I avidly consume industry-related blogs and articles, leveraging social media platforms to follow industry professionals and engage with their content. Where do you envision your journey leading?

Our roadmap extends far into the next five, ten, and beyond years, with the aspiration to establish ourselves as a globally esteemed and acknowledged organization. We are committed to navigating this path with strategic planning and unwavering determination, aiming not just for a singular destination but for continuous progress and expansion in the direction of our vision.
Given your extensive industry expertise, what counsel would you offer emerging industry leaders?
It’s crucial to recognize that leadership doesn't equate to omniscience. Prioritize active listening over excessive talking, and be open to seeking assistance when faced with unfamiliar challenges. Understand that it's acceptable and even beneficial to reach out to others for guidance; leadership doesn't necessitate possessing all the answers. Perseverance is key; never relent in the face of adversity. Embrace a mindset of continuous learning and growth, understanding that humility and willingness to learn are essential qualities of effective leadership.
