Singapore's tech landscape has rapidly evolved into a global innovation hub, driven by a strong emphasis on research, development, and digital transformation. Within this landscape, generative AI startup leaders in Singapore are carving a path of innovation by leveraging AI to solve complex challenges across sectors like healthcare, finance, and education. These companies are not only developing AIpowered solutions but are also shaping the future of work by enabling businesses to harness the power of automation, data analysis, and personalized services. The rise of such startups underscores Singapore’s role as a key player in the AI-driven economy of the future.

One notable leader in this space is Nguyen The Trung, the Founder & CEO of Pythaverse, a pioneering company dedicated to bridging the gap in STEM education. Trung’s professional journey began as a Software Engineer and later as R&D Director at CVT Global Pty Ltd. in Australia, where he led the development of one of the world’s first Unified Messaging Systems. With over two decades of experience in ICT solutions, e-Government systems, and STEM education, Trung founded Pythaverse in 2022. The company combines affordable AI, IoT, robotics, and Digital Twin technologies to provide hands-on learning experiences. Pythaverse now impacts over 200 schools and 50,000 students across Southeast Asia, with Trung driven by a vision of an inclusive future where every student has the opportunity to innovate and thrive with cutting-edge technologies.

Let’s dive into this one on one interaction to know more.

You possess over 22 years of experience. How has been your path to success and what is your success mantra?
My journey has always been driven by a passion for problem-solving. From a young age, I recognized that while pencil and paper could measure the world through mathematics, computers had the unique ability to address challenges that involve human interaction, both with each other and the world around us. I have always been captivated by technological breakthroughs, whether it’s enabling seamless communication through Unified Messaging, driving automation with software, or empowering informed decision-making via e-Government solutions and strategic planning through Enterprise Architecture.

For me, success has been about solving meaningful problems. My mantra is simple, which is to connect big ideas with practical, actionable solutions that create the greatest impact. I approach challenges with First Principles thinking combined with an Enterprise Architecture mindset, which allows me to bridge visionary ideas with tangible strategies. This blend ensures that the solutions I lead are not only transformative but also sustainable and scalable.

My success mantra is ‘Stick with the Big Ideas for a harmonized future, empower human-centered technology solutions through First Principles thinking, and take a holistic approach to drive lasting change’.

According to you, how precisely does AI target valuable new opportunities?
In my view, AI targets valuable new opportunities by automating repetitive tasks, which frees up human potential for more human agency, creativity and strategic thinking. Its scalability fosters innovation across various industries, from education and healthcare to sustainable development. The key lies in designing AI systems that are user-centric and aligned with ethical principles and long-term societal goals. My focus is on using AI to create future opportunities for students in less privileged regions, helping them unlock their full potential, not just economically, but also in terms of creativity, values, and autonomy. By transforming education through ethical AI, we can significantly enhance the value for learners and their communities. For example, a successful learner in Pythaverse today could, in 5-10 years, see a tenfold increase in their job income and contribute to creating 2-10 additional jobs, benefiting the broader economy.

What is the future destination you are heading towards?
The future I envision is one where education access and outcomes are equitable for all learners, particularly in underprivileged regions. Despite significant technological advancements, nearly half of the world’s learners remain disconnected from its full potential, and even those with access often face challenges in achieving optimal results. My goal is to reach the 4 billion people living in countries with GDP per capita below $20,000 by offering an accessible, affordable learning platform powered by cutting-edge technologies like AI and Digital Twin. Through Pythaverse, we aim to deliver a 'learning by doing' education model that not only unlocks students’ full potential but also fosters an environment of innovation, driving societal transformation on a broader scale.

My vision therefore is a future where all learners, no matter their economic background, have an equal opportunity to explore their creativity, realize their values, and contribute to building a harmonious, innovative global society.

In the light of your strong experience within the industry, what advice would you give to the budding industry leaders?
Based on my experience in the industry, my advice to emerging leaders is to focus on solving real problems and collaborate with AI to drive innovation. Stay curious, and ensure that your work is always aligned with purpose and integrity. Dream big, and execute with practicality, and let every challenge you face be an opportunity for growth and creating lasting impact.
