My journey stands as a testament to the increasing recognition & influence of women in real estate, inspiring others to pursue leadership roles

You hold strong professional experience with having led leadership roles across multiple reputed firms, how do you look back at your growth today?

Reflecting on my professional journey, which began in the early 2000s, I see a path marked by continuous growth and adaptation. Starting as a lawyer with a master's degree from the University of Southern California, I transitioned into the real estate industry in 2001. This shift allowed me to merge my legal expertise with business acumen, particularly in joint ventures and office development. My initial foray into real estate was pivotal, as it positioned me within the leadership levels of the industry. Over the years, I have diversified my focus, moving from office developments to commercial, retail, and hospitality sectors. This evolution not only broadened my skill set but also solidified my reputation as a dynamic leader.

Balancing professional aspirations with personal commitments, especially as a mother, has been both challenging and rewarding. My journey stands as a testament to the increasing recognition and influence of women in real estate, inspiring others to pursue leadership roles.

From your experience, how do you lend your guidance to employees to meet the company’s goals & how do you measure their progress?

As a leader, my approach is to guide rather than just direct. I believe in fostering personal development alongside achieving company goals. I share my experiences and insights to help employees navigate challenges, encouraging them to grow their skills and talents. I mentor by example, demonstrating what needs to be done and empowering them to excel independently. Measuring progress involves observing their ability to take on larger projects and work autonomously. For me, success is seeing an employee surpass their initial capabilities and thrive, knowing my guidance played a role in their achievement.

In your professional journey so far, which milestones have brought you the most satisfaction both personally & professionally?

One significant milestone was transitioning from a lawyer to a recognized leader in the real estate industry. It’s challenging for lawyers to be seen as business-oriented, but I established myself as someone who bridges the gap, ensuring successful and practical deals. Another milestone is being acknowledged as a prime leader for women in real estate in the Philippines. This recognition is particularly heartwarming because it reflects my efforts being appreciated not just by my company but also by the broader community. These milestones are deeply satisfying as they represent both professional achievements and personal growth.

What is the next destination you have envisioned for your journey?

Having established a strong foothold in office development over nearly two decades, my next ambition is to become an authority in hospitality and provincial development. The Philippines, with its rich archipelago, offers vast untapped potential beyond metro cities. I aim to be the first to truly understand and integrate the diverse opportunities across all provinces and islands. By doing so, I aspire to be a key resource for investors, both local and foreign, guiding them to see the immense potential beyond just the metropolitan areas. My goal is to provide comprehensive insights and feedback, highlighting that the entire Philippines, with its unique locales, is ripe for development and investment.

What would be your advice to budding industry leaders?

My advice to budding industry leaders is to embrace new ideas and think outside the box. The real estate industry has been very traditional, but to create lasting legacies, we need innovative thinking. Look beyond the current norms and consider future impacts. Be open to ideas from diverse sources, not just within your immediate circle. Insights from reading, attending conferences, and meetings can spark significant innovations, even if they don’t directly relate to real estate. Continuously evolve and envision the future, moving beyond traditional practices. By staying open-minded and forward-thinking, you can drive meaningful and lasting change in the industry.
