The pharmaceutical industry, as promising as it i s, has undergone a s eries of innovations brought about by industry leaders. These are the leaders who, with their strength and passion, inspire future generations. Anis Uz Zaman is one such young and promising entrepreneur who is working tirelessly to improve the healthcare landscape by raising the standard of pharmaceutical testing through the application of advanced technology and continuous improvement methodologies.

Growing up in a developed country like Bangladesh, Anis Uz Zaman always felt that the gaps between developed and developing countries are somewhat insurmountable. And this scenario is applicable across many sectors. One such sector is the healthcare sector, and from a very young, under his parents’ guidance, Anis wanted to play a role in the improvement of the sector. After completing his BSc in pharmacology from UCL and an MSc in pharmacology from the University of Oxford in the UK, he returned to Bangladesh and began working on establishing C2C Pharma, which is dedicated to reducing the gap in the standard of health care between the developed nations and the developing nations.

Anis Uz Zaman engages in an exclusive interview with CEO Insights Asia, wherein he enlightens us more about his professional traits and the unique positioning of C2C Pharma in the pharmaceutical industry.

How would you define C2C Pharma as an organization and its position in the market?

C2C P harma i s a n e merging p harmaceutical company in Bangladesh with a global vision. We are quick to adopt advanced technologies in almost everything we do because technology is unquestionably an indispensable tool for any type of advancement in this day and age. Moreover, we make every effort to incorporate the most recent principles of Current Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Laboratory Practices, and Good Documentation Practices into our daily activities.

When we lack a specific expertise, we are prompt in forging partnerships with experts to ensure that we are always up to date on the latest trends and advancements. We don't want to be confined to the borders of our country, but rather to leave our mark on the global scale, from coast to coast. Our vision is to maintain the highest quality standards that prevail in the world's developed countries, in order to raise the bar for every market, and thus every client, that we serve.

As a leader, it is critical to truly understand the personality traits of the people you are leading

What is the motivation that fuels your daily routines?

I get asked what C2C stands for quite often, and the full form is not apparent from the onset - the full form is coast to coast. And our underlying ideology is simple - there are many people in dire need of life-saving medications, and we will try to reach as many people as possible with our high-quality pharmaceutical products, regardless of which coast of the world they're located in. If access to highquality, lifesaving pharmaceutical products can be ensured, it could mean the prolongation of an individual's life expectancy, the alleviation of painful symptoms, and improvement in the quality of life, to name a few, and all these various factors motivate me to carry out my daily routines.

Tell us about your leadership approach, and the methodologies you follow to lead your team.

Before answering this question, I believe the first point I should make is that every individual is unique, and the same methodologies will not work for everyone. As a leader, it is critical to truly understand the personality traits of the people you are leading in order to maximize their productivity and efficiency for the betterment of the company. Furthermore, since the company is constantly growing, it is imperative that we have an in-house culture that generates good leaders. In a growing organization, it is pivotal to constantly impart as much information as possible to your subordinates so that they become adept at what you do. Another point I'd like to bring up is the significance of ongoing training in any growing organization. At C2C Pharma, we strive to conduct regular training on various topics that will benefit our team members on a both professional and personal level.

What is the future destination you are heading towards?

C2C Pharma is working tirelessly to expand its product portfolio so that it can offer products from a wide range of therapeutic classes, such as cardiovascular products, anti-diabetic agents, neurological products, pain medicine, and so on. Furthermore, we want to export high-quality pharmaceutical products to as many countries as possible. As a result, we are working on a number of stringent accreditations, including GMP certification (EU) and U.S. FDA certification, to name a few.

In light of your strong experience, what advice would you give to budding industry leaders?

This will be a very brief response—read, read, and read. In today's competitive world, you need to be constantly updated, since only the fittest and most knowledgeable individuals will eventually succeed.
