Long Strides of Success
Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) recently made a remarkable entry into the Asia University Rankings 2023 by the UK-based Times Higher Education (THE) magazine. It ranked 84th among the best universities in Asia, the only Philippine university to be in the top 100. This was a huge improvement from its previous year’s "reporter" status, which meant it did not qualify for the official rankings despite submitting data.
Delivering deeper, it’s hardly a coincidence that the university is making long strides. Ateneo is well known for its close relationship with the industry and its collaborations with corporate organizations to ensure that its graduates are at the cutting edge of things when they graduate. For instance, a few months ago, Ateneo De Manila University partnered with nChain, a global leader in blockchain technology, to advance blockchain education and research in the Philippines. They have signed an MOU to establish a framework for cooperation and innovation. The University’s research group, The Ateneo Blockchain Laboratory, will spearhead this collaboration and offer a new blockchain leadership unit in the second semester of 2023. nChain will also provide PhD students with access to its patented IP and various grants to support their blockchain research. The Ateneo Blockchain Laboratory aims to conduct applied research and development projects focused on the practical applications of blockchain technologies.
Founded in 1859 by the Jesuits, Ateneo De Manila University is the second-oldest Jesuit-administered institution of higher learning in the Asia-Pacific. We are proud to present our yearly special issue based on the prestigious alumni ecosystem of the university.
