| | OCTOBER 20234 The QS World University Rankings 2024 are out now. This year's ranking features 85 new entrants--more than half are from Asia, with Bangladesh (11 new institutions), Indonesia (10), India and Malaysia (five each) and Kazakhstan (four) having the highest representation. It is quite evident that Indonesia, the fourth largest population in the world, makes quite strong strides in the educational sector. One of the most significant reasons for this is the student-staff ratio prevailing among the universities in the country. According to the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings data, Indonesian universities now have the lowest student-staff ratios in the world, on average. The country's score on this metric has grown by 42 percent over five years to 82.4 out of 100, propelling it to the top spot globally this year.The University of Indonesia (Universitas Indonesia), the oldest state-run university in Indonesia with more than 160 years of experience in education, made significant strides in this year's QS rankings. According to the QS rankings, Universitas Indonesia is in the 10th position in South Eastern Asia with 35,813 students enrolled, including 1,852 international students. The Universitas Indonesia has grown and flourished since it was established in 1950. In recent years, the university started a major reform to pursue excellent education with a global perspective. Universitas Indonesia is driven by its contribution to Indonesia and its dedication to being a Nation's Teacher through carrying out the Higher Education Tridharma.
