Viswanathan A Ever since the economic revolution in Singapore, the state city has been a haven for employment not only for residents but also for non-residents. The dynamic technology evolution has, however, made achieving that haven slightly difficult. According to reports, resident employment in Singapore increased by 4,700 in the first quarter of 2024, while non-resident employment decreased for the first time since the third quarter of 2021. The disparity can be attributed to several factors, such as skill gaps. The situation calls for academia to ramp up its efforts, creating an environment for students to experience the present-day technology ecosystem prevailing in the corporate realm. Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore has been on the right track when it comes to exposing students to current industry scenarios, thanks to several collaborations the institute has made. Recently, NTU joined hands with Neurophet, an artificial intelligence (AI) solution company for brain disease, signing a joint research agreement to analyze data from the Dementia Research Centre. Neurophet AQUA is AI-based brain MRI analysis software that segments and analyzes brain MRIs in 5 minutes and boasts a high analysis success rate. It analyzes and provides consistent results regardless of race, age, and gender. Through this collaboration, Neurophet and NTU conducted joint research on automatic brain segmentation using "Neurophet AQUA." According to NTU, the main aim of this study is to validate the use of the Neurophet AQUA segmentation and WMH quantification software in a Southeast Asian community-based cohort of cognitively normal, MCI (Mild cognitive impairment), and dementia subjects.
