| | AUGUST 20234Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) recently published their World University Ranking, and one of the most remarkable changes compared to the previous year's ranking has been that the National University of Singapore (NUS) moved up three positions from rank 11 last year to become the first Asian university to break into the top 10. Several aspects contributed to the achievement, and among them is the university's research excellence in the recent past that helped in finding solutions to societal problems. For instance, an NUS research team recently unveiled perovskite solar cells with a power conversion efficiency of 24.35 percent. The team incorporated a new interface material into perovskite solar cells, which induced perovskite solar cells' optical, electrical, and chemical properties to work synergistically to enhance both efficiency and longevity. "One of our next goals is to deliver perovskite solar cells with 25 years of operational stability," says Yi Hou, leader of the NUS research team.On the other hand, NUS recently formed a groundbreaking collaboration with the government of Odisha state in India with a shared vision of advancing human capital development in Odisha through transformative training, cutting-edge research, and path-breaking innovation.
