| | SEPTEMBER 20234 The green future is one of the common goals of the modern world. Every segment of the society must play its role going forward. Mahidol University, Thailand, is all set to take its green and low-carbon transformation to the next level, as it has struck a partnership with FusionSolar, which will enable the institute to deploy a 15 MW PV + 600 kWh energy storage system (ESS) fully configured with optimizers, setting a benchmark for large-scale application of PV+ESS integration in Thailand.The PV+ESS system in Mahidol University is predicted to reduce the annual electricity fee by $ 2.3 million and cut carbon emissions by 11,000 tons, equivalent to planting 15,000 trees. The new deployment will fully use the rooftop areas of the campus's 41 buildings, allowing them to install as many PV modules as possible to generate 10 percent more electricity. The application of the ESS is not only essential for efficient energy management but can also supply backup power for the university. In addition, this new project will provide students with a platform for close access to and research on green power operations. A century-old, renowned university in southern Thailand, Mahidol University has historically been at the forefront of green initiatives. The university is not only a leading educator but also a pioneer in exploring carbon neutrality in Thailand. The campus is endowed with Thailand's traditional wooden huts and temples, as well as modern libraries and laboratories. These close-to-nature buildings now have rows of neatly arranged PV modules on the rooftops of the faculty buildings.
