What does it really take to be a tech leader? Meta's Chief Technology Officer, Andrew `Boz' 'Bosworth, recently talked about the initial days of Facebook and how they all survived on minimal sleep and missed socializing for a significant part of their 20s. He also reminisces about the time when he first met then-undergraduate Mark Zuckerberg while taking a class at Harvard University. Today, the duo is at the forefront of the global technology revolution, establishing new industry standards. Their innovations are reshaping Meta's strategic approach across various product lines, particularly in mixed reality, and are instrumental in the development of the latest Quest headsets and Ray-Ban smart glasses. Despite Boz's extensive two-decade career in AI and his continuous engagement with the latest advancements, he acknowledges that the recent surge in technological innovation has taken them by surprise.Boz made it clear that in today's dynamic tech world, where innovations explode daily, to stand out, a tech leader has to drive larger social good across the communities they operate in. Solving societal challenges with futuristic technologies and innovations with foresight is a great way to succeed. The global tech leaders need to make sure that they are at the business end of things--right at the bleeding edge. We dedicate this issue to the CTOs in Japan who lead the technology revolution. According to Statista, private IT investments in the country would reach a value of more than 15.5 trillion yen by fiscal year 2025. Interesting times ahead.
