Launched earlier this year in February, the initiative aims to revolutionize infrastructure planning and design through the utilization of digital twin technology, creating precise and dynamic models of physical environments. So far, 144 participants have been chosen for the initiative."This innovative approach enables real-time insights and predictive analytics, significantly enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of infrastructure projects", stated the department.The Sangam initiative seeks to tackle complex challenges by integrating telecommunications, computational technologies, sensing, and imaging to construct comprehensive digital replicas of physical assets.A diverse pool of 112 organizations and 32 individuals, comprising industry giants, innovative startups, and leading academic institutions, have joined the initiative. These participants bring a wealth of technological expertise, spanning unified data platforms, advanced AI modeling, immersive AR/VR applications, and sophisticated scenario planning, according to DoT.Recognizing the potential for broader participation, the department has extended the deadline for Expression of Interest (EoI) submissions to June 25, 2024.Moreover, DoT announced plans to host networking events under the Sangam initiative. These events will serve to foster knowledge sharing, facilitate partnership formation, and encourage exploration and articulation of use cases, with a particular focus on the feasibility, scalability, and integration of cutting-edge technologies to advance the initiative's objectives.The Sangam initiative represents a significant step forward in leveraging technology to address infrastructure challenges and drive innovation in the field.
