This appointment comes as a part of an extensive reshuffle at the US investment firm, wherein long-serving China head Frank Wei steps down. Mahadevia, who brings 17 years of experience with the firm, will assume this new responsibility while continuing in his current capacity as co-head of financial services. The firm also announced new leadership appointments for various markets across Asia, encompassing China and India, as part of this reorganization, as stated in their official statement.Warburg Pincus expressed its intent to consolidate its management structure to foster enhanced collaboration, consistency, and risk management, aligning with the firm's expansion in Asia and its deepening sectoral coverage. The CEO, Chip Kaye, highlighted Vishal Mahadevia's leadership capabilities and investment acumen, emphasizing that alongside the firm's experienced upcoming investor group, they form an optimal team to advance Warburg Pincus' Asia-oriented strategy.In India, Narendra Ostawal, who joined the company in 2007, will spearhead the private equity segment. Viraj Sawhney and Anish Saraf, who came on board in 2005 and 2006 respectively, will assume broader responsibilities as the firm intensifies its focus on cross-border business services and industrial operations. Regarding China, Frank Wei, with a tenure of over two decades at Warburg Pincus, will step down from his current position but will continue as a managing director until 2024 to ensure a smooth transition. Partners Min Fang and Ben Zhou, who joined in 2007 and 2005 respectively, will Co-lead China's private equity division, directing the firm's investments in the world's second-largest economy, where it has maintained a presence for nearly 30 years.
