The Saudi Ports Authority, commonly known as Mawani, has inked a deal with Saudi Global Ports to build the 1 million-square-meter park. According to Mawani President Omar Hariri, the recently signed agreement is part of the authority's plans to increase the number of logistics parks within Saudi ports to 12. This growth is likely to drive the Kingdom from 38th to 10th place in the worldwide logistics services performance ranking, he added. In alignment with the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services and Vision 2030, this development aims to bolster the logistics sector's role in supporting the national economy, reinforcing Saudi Arabia's status as a global logistics hub connecting three continents. The logistics park will offer comprehensive logistics services and advanced solutions, with a strong emphasis on sustainable practices and systems. It will include warehouses and yards equipped for storing and handling various dry and refrigerated goods, as per arab news.The park will also include a bonded and re-export area for sorting, distribution activities, and other value-added services. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistics Services and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mawani, highlighted that this arrangement involves both local and international private sector investments. According to the minister, the goal of these investments is to build many high-performance logistics zones, which will improve sector efficiency, service quality, handling capacity, and job prospects.
