This year, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) won the 2024 title of America's Most Just Company. After becoming a separate entity in 2015, HPE made headlines when it acquired Aruba Networks, solidifying its leadership in the technology industry, particularly in networking. HPE’s transformation under its CEO Antonio Neri’s business strategy helped it quickly innovate throughout its product line, from introducing next-generation toner technology to its LaserJet printers, for example. HPE’s success under Antonio Neri enabled the company to navigate its digital transformation journey through smart business growth strategies, continuous learning and firm leadership.

In JUST's rankings of the Russell 1000, HPE outperformed its competitors and other industry leaders. Although HPE was consistently ranked in the JUST 100 from 2018 to 2024, this is the company's first year at the top.

For the recent accolade, Antonio gives credit to his team's efforts that paid off in providing favorable results on tasks, the environment, the community, and other problems that are most important to Americans. Neri emphasized that the key is outcomes.

The Transformation Under Antonio’s Leadership

Antonio Neri's leadership, as well as calculated risks, have not only helped HPE’s business to advance, but ascend to various heights as well. With a keen eye on edge computing, hybrid solutions, and data-driven insights Antonio held the torch for the company to make its way up in the market on a global level.

This transformational CEO took the steering wheels of HPE in 1995 when he joined as a customer service agent in an Amsterdam call center, just before the split into HP Inc. and HPE. Initially, Antonio joined HP in 1994 and quickly climbed the ladder, bagging roles like the head of the Server and Networking division as well as the Technology Services division. He has over 23 years of experience in technology leadership roles.

The reigns of the CEO role were passed on to Antonio following former CEO Meg Whitman's decision to divide HP into HP Inc. and HPE. There on, Antonio showed monumental results in terms of significant technological megatrends related to edge computing, cloud computing, and data analytics. He sparked HPE’s innovation through strategic acquisitions in fields like networking, AI, data storage, and cybersecurity. Some of the noteworthy acquisition tales are those of businesses like Aruba Networks, Axis Security, Cray, Determined AI, Nimble Storage, Pachyderm, Silicon Graphics, Silver Peak, and Zerto, among others.

Antonio believes that the reason behind his success is having excellent mentors, the willingness to venture into new things, and the habit of having people who push him to advance.

Introduced Key Projects and Initiatives

He believes that the company could continue shining in success given its ability to use technology to address issues in novel ways. He also attributes it to the synergy between these advancements and HPE's dedication to edge and data technologies.

For instance, he has been instrumental in leading key projects, including the hybrid cloud platform GreenLake and the company's key investments in Aruba networking. Furthermore, the strength of HPE's alliance with Amazon Web Services Inc. reinforces HPE's standing in the cloud industry.

Approach for Fast Tracking Change

To move even faster, Antonio increased its wager on Everything-as-a-Service to help position HPE and its partners for the future by providing an unrivaled consumption-based cloud experience for customers from the edge to the core to the cloud. Additionally, he has also reorganized the company for a "post-COVID-19 world," creating a more agile GreenLake Cloud Services Business Group in an effort to move faster.

Leading Change in the Era of AI

Antonio has also been active in the current rise of AI by making HPE develop AI system integration and revolutionizing the way businesses use and benefit from these technologies.

With Antonio’s strategic insights and unwavering commitment to innovation, HPE is already leading the next Industrial Revolution by progressing in AI infrastructure and customer experience.

Not only that, HPE has been able to stay in the forefront in AI technology for more than 20 years, mainly in specialized industries with its supercomputing capabilities. Better, the company is positive on its generative AI capabilities, hoping transform industries far greater than they have previously done.

Its key partnership with Nvidia Corp is a standing example of this. This strategic partnership has been offering integrated solutions that help simplify AI deployment for organizations by combining HPE's robust infrastructure with Nvidia's AI technology. For Antonio this partnership extends beyond selling hardware and more in providing a full range of services, all consolidated under the HPE GreenLake platform, such as software, infrastructure, and support.

Always Scoring on the Customer Experience

Antonio has been making it very clear that HPE primarily stands by constantly improving the customer experience. It’s said that, he divides the company's customers into three categories: model builders, enterprises, and hyperscalers, with each having different needs when it comes to AI. But the focus for businesses remains the same, which is to develop an integrated experience that makes the implementation of AI applications easier.

Part of Antonio’s motives is making complex AI tools accessible and functional for businesses. To make that happen, Antonio has made sure that, as part of its approach, HPE trains its employees while ensuring that Nvidia and HPE show a united front to customers.
