Citi appoints Joy Cheng as Head of Commercial Bank, Hong Kong
Citi, a prominent US lender, has named a seasoned veteran with 30 years of experience to lead its commercial banking division in Hong Kong. Joy Cheng has been selected as the new head of Citi Commercial Bank (CCB) for Hong Kong, taking over from Anson Kwok who retired on January 1st. In her new position, Cheng will report to Gunjan Kalra, who serves as the head of CCB for Asia North, Australia, and Asia South clusters, as well as to Aveline San, the CEO and head of banking for Citi in Hong Kong and Macau.
With a career spanning over three decades, Cheng started at Citi as a management associate. Her most recent role was as the head of corporate banking for Hong Kong. Prior to this, she has held various senior positions, such as head of financial institutions for Hong Kong and head of Asia Pacific multinational coverage for the financial institutions group.
In the Asian region, CCB caters to clients across 11 markets, encompassing Australia, mainland China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. Kalra stated that Hong Kong stands as one of CCB's leading markets worldwide in terms of revenue flow.
